Increasingly design specifications we receive for new lens developments require the lens to hold focus over very wide temperature ranges. As operating temperature changes, a lens will contract or expand which unless athermalised will cause the lens to lose focus. A new technical note discusses different strategies for developing a lens to operate over a wide temperature range.
