A wide angle adapter for Broadcast TV

This customer required an adapter lens that would increase the field from 45º to 90º and maintain a high resolution image with minimal distortion throughout the zoom range of their camera. The application was aimed at the Broadcast TV and teleconference markets.

To enable the lens to maintain a high resolution image throughout the zoom range, our optical designers tested the camera to determine the positions of the entrance pupils. With this information, the solution required the use of a specialist glass and an innovative optical design in order to maintain image quality throughout the zoom range. To ensure the quality of image each lens is set up on a collimator and individually checked and set.

A major broadcasting corporation is currently using the 0.5X wide angle adapter that was developed as a result of this project.
