When selecting a lens for your camera, it is commonly thought that the lens should match the number of cycles provided by the sensor to give you the maximum resolution possible. This however – is incorrect. To get best performance from your camera sensor, your lens should provide roughly half the cycles of your camera / sensor. The reasons behind this are discussed in our white paper “sensor resolution versus lens resolution”.
